Improving sector-based results for systems with deadzone nonlinearities

چکیده
The conservatism of sector-based results for systems consisting of an interconnection of a linear-time-invariant (LTI) system and a static, sector-bounded nonlinearity is well known. Despite this, they are widely used in control system analysis and synthesis. This paper shows how, when the sectorbounded nonlinearity is a deadzone, standard sector based results can be modified to allow the synthesis of a nonlinear controller which can deliver improved performance over standard results. The appealing feature of the method is that, as the main part of the design is done using standard sector results, the computation associated with the improved controller is essentially the same as with the standard controller. An override control example is used to illustrate the potential of the results.

Stability and Stabilization of a Class of Nonlinear Systems with Saturating Actuators
This paper addresses the problem of controlling a certain class of continuous-time nonlinear systems subject to actuator saturations. The design of state feedback gains is done by considering a modelling of the nonlinear saturated system through deadzone nonlinearities satisfying a modified sector condition, which encompasses the classical sector-nonlinearity condition considered in previous wo...
متن کامل"A Stability Criterion for Systems with Nuetrally Stable Modes and Deadzone Nonlinearities"
Stability analysis is considered for feedback interconnections of deadzone nonlinearities with linear systems that has a neutrally stable mode. Such systems do not have a unique equilibrium point and the standard techniques from passivity and Lyapunov theory cannot be applied. A stability criterion that generalizes the Popov criterion for this class of systems is derived in this report and seve...
متن کاملA non-square sector condition and its application in deferred-action anti-windup compensator design
A sector condition for two connected deadzone nonlinearities is provided. By introducing an additional non-square operator which exploits their connectivity, a more general set of sector-like matrix inequalities is obtained. This “non-square” matrix inequality condition is applied to an anti-windup (AW) problem in which the AW compensator is not activated until the unconstrained control signal ...

متن کاملTime-Varying and Adaptive Integral Control of Linear Systems with Actuator and Sensor Nonlinearities
Low-gain integral control strategies are presented for tracking of constant reference signals for asymptotically stable, finite-dimensional, single-input, single-output, continuoustime or discrete-time linear systems subject to certain classes of actuator and sensor nonlinearities. Both non-adaptive (but possibly time-varying) and adaptive integrator gains are considered in continuous-time, dis...
